BANDS:
Atomic Rhythm All-Stars
Hailing from the Triangle area of North Carolina, the Atomic Rhythm All-Stars is a 7 piece band dedicated to authentically recreating the sounds of the 1920's and 30's. Their three horns, three rhythm, and one vocal lineup faithfully recreate the red hot jazz bands of the mid-late 1920s and early 1930's. Their influences range from Louis Armstrong to Bix Beiderbecke, Paul Whiteman to Jimmie Lunceford, and Bing Crosby to Fats Waller. If Art Deco had a soundtrack, the Atomic Rhythm All-Stars would be it. Bandleader George Knott painstakingly recreates historic arrangements to present an authentic prohibition era musical experience.
The NC Revelers
The NC Revelers Orchestra is a dance band in the tradition of the great touring bands of Glen Miller, Count Basie, Les Brown & others. The musicians are among some of North Carolina's finest & their mission is to bring the best of the Great American Songbook of popular show & dance tunes to new audiences.
DJs:
Michael Gamble - Asheville, NC
Michael Gamble loves all the styles of music to which we dance. Early, strutty, society band music, Ragtime, Dixieland, hot jazz, and Charleston music, Pure, hard-swinging big band, Soulful jazz and blues, Contemporary swinging jazz. Michael is not a fan of musical monoculture, and believes the most satisfying nights of dancing touch a little bit on each era of this elaborate pantheon. Mostly, he likes to watch dancers react to exciting music, and works very hard to choose the right tune for each moment. Michael has played in over 30 US cities in addition to organizing the music for a wide range of competitions and camps, and looks forward to sharing his music with you!

Her motto is simple -- "just play good music." She enjoys feeling out the flow and energy of the dance floor and challenging her dancers with music that appeals to all styles of swing. Some of Aba's favorite DJ gigs have included the Twin Cities Balboa Fest (MN), Herrang Dance Camp (Sweden), Lindy Focus (NC), and Southern Belle Swing Bash (GA). His music is a reflection of the history of Jazz, Blues, and Swing Music, mixing together old standards and new grooves to keep the dance floor fun. He has DJed and performed in a variety of locations and events, including the past two years at VBLX.
Laura Lackey - Greensboro, NC
Laura has been dancing ever since she can remember, however swing didn't come into play until later on. She was inspired to search out swing dancing by her interest in her Grandpa's vast collection of swing records, which he played constantly, & her Grandma's amusing stories & demonstrations of what it was like to dance in the 1930's & 40's. (USO dances, meeting Glen Miller, Big Apple, etc.) Once finding the local dance scene of PSDS in the early 2000's, she was hooked and has only gotten worse from thence on. With Laura's love for music & dance, DJing came as a natural extension of that love. She has DJed at a variety of venues including many a PSDS dance and even various Lindy & Blues house parties. Ultimately, when it comes to DJing, she loves to choose music that dancers will enjoy & interact with and tries to make each song count.
